Together We Are Stronger: Key Takeaways from the Clearwater Non-Profit Roundtable

On September 24, 2026, the North Thompson Communities Foundation joined hands with Trekor Yellowhead at the Clearwater Ski Hill lodge to host our regional Non-Profit Stakeholders Engagement.

Bringing together leaders from every corner of our volunteer sector—from youth athletics, performing arts, and heritage societies to emergency responders, senior services, and multi-service non-profits—the gathering focused on one core mission: breaking down operational silos to build lasting community resilience.

NTCF and Trekor Yellowhead hosts welcoming community leaders and reviewing collaborative sticky-note boards.

What We Learned: Highlights from the Engagement Report

The insights and open-floor feedback gathered throughout the evening have been synthesized into our regional needs assessment:

  • Shared Pressures: Across all sectors, groups cited grant application complexity, rigid funding restrictions that exclude everyday operating overhead, and severe volunteer fatigue as their greatest hurdles.

  • Top Regional Gaps: Valley leaders pinpointed rural transportation deficits (both local travel and medical trips to Kamloops), senior assisted living, and dedicated, drop-in spaces for non-competitive youth as the services our residents need most urgently.

  • The Power of Resource Sharing: Rather than working in isolation, attendees overwhelmingly backed practical co-operation models:

    • Creating a Shared Equipment & Asset Hub (pooling event tents, PA systems, folding chairs, maintenance machinery, and mobile mobility aids).

    • Coordinating a Central Community Calendar to prevent event overlap and cross-promote fundraisers.

    • Establishing a Unified Volunteer Registry to match skills, engage youth for volunteer hours, and alleviate board burnout.

Community Voices

"Clearwater is an amazing community because of the volunteers who dedicate their time to staying connected, sharing ideas, and making things happen. It was so encouraging to turn these conversations into immediate action."

"It was incredible to see other local groups together in one place and realize how many of us share the exact same goals for the betterment of the valley."

Moving Forward

Real collaboration is already taking flight—from immediate partnerships established between youth literacy programs and senior centres, to coordinated grant-support initiatives.

The complete Clearwater Non-Profit Engagement Report & Resource Matchmaker will be released shortly to all participating groups to help foster direct partnerships and strengthen joint grant applications.
