Bursary Award
Establishing a Bursary with the North Thompson Communities Foundation can make a lasting impact on the lives of students in your community. It’s a meaningful way to invest in the future and create a sustainable and impactful legacy in your community.
A Bursary is a gift that is given to an individual with the purpose of helping them pay for higher education. This money is given without the need of repayment and can assist the recipient with expenses like tuition, books, housing (sometimes), and other costs related to higher education. Bursaries are tax-deductible for donors and tax-free for recipients.
Whether the motivation behind your bursary is to help low-income students, honour the memory of a loved one, or support specific groups of people, the Foundation can help you create a Bursary for deserving students. The minimum donation to establish a Bursary Fund is $20,000. Each new Bursary Fund will have five years from the date of the initial donation to reach the minimum balance level until then, no annual awards will be made (subject to CRA requirements from year to year).
