This past year has been especially difficult for many groups that rely on fundraising due to the restrictions imposed by Covid-19. In July the Foundation received a request for funding from the Dr. Helmcken Hospital Auxiliary. Halfway to being able to purchase a new ventilator for the hospital their activities were curtailed. Through funding obtained from the Community Foundations of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund, the North Thompson Communities Foundation was able approve and support the application of the Hospital Auxiliary and award a grant of $27,000. The ventilator has been purchased and today the Auxiliary and the Foundation gathered at the Hospital to view the new portable ventilator.
Interestingly it is said to be both National Volunteer Week and National Tourism Week at the same time.... so It is appropriate to say ' "Thanks" and we really appreciate your selflessness and willingness to contribute, in a good way, to the future of the communities you live with-in ". ![]()

Certainly there is a monitary value. This is important, however it is the 'Real ' part that counts. The smiles that are shared, a 'high-five' here and there, a quiet time of reminnising or prayer, or a maybe it is a time of planning, perhaps as a volunteer you simply pick up one piece of trash, or help any individual way that you either share with others or with your self..., ...... Only the individual knows. ![]()
